Recently, in the form of policy documents, the European Commission released the EU's "digital dividend" utilization and future development strategy of the Internet of things.
EU requires Member States to realize the conversion from analog TV to digital TV since 2012, and release the resulting "digital dividend" frequency band to stimulate the development of wireless business. The specific scheme is to use 790mhz ~ 862MHZ sub band for 3G and 4G mobile video online, download and other wireless services, to achieve the goal of full coverage of high-speed broadband in the EU by the end of 2013, and to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce and the formation of a single wireless market in the EU.
The EU said that to make the most of this opportunity, Europe as a whole must adopt a coordinated strategy to move forward. The European Commission estimates that if the use of "digital dividend" frequency band in the European Union can be unified before 2015, it will bring 20-50 billion euros of economic benefits to the European Union in the next 15 years.
At present, in the process of the transformation of TV broadcasting services from analog to digital, every country has taken different steps. Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Flemish region of Belgium have achieved digital TV conversion. Austria, Denmark, Malta, Slovenia and Spain will achieve this goal in 2010, while Ireland and Poland are the only other member countries that are slow to move.
The Internet of things strategy proposes that Europe should lead the world in the development of Internet based intelligent infrastructure. In addition to investing 400 million euros through ICT Research and Development plan and launching more than 90 R & D projects to improve the level of network intelligence, the European Commission will increase 200 million euros annually from 2011 to 2013 to further strengthen research and development, and at the same time, it will provide 300 million euros of special funds to support Internet of things related development Construction of short-term public-private cooperation projects.
